Implications of Tenant Transport for Wellbeing and Emissions

The aim of this projects is to study the transport behaviour of public housing tenants, the influences on their behaviour, and the consequences for wellbeing and carbon emissions.

We are looking at current transport patterns and needs of public housing tenants, and how these needs are currently being met by transport modes such as walking, cycling and public transport. We are also exploring tenants’ views on the importance of access to various transport modes. We are using a combination of data sources, including document analysis of providers’ policies; existing NZ Household Travel Survey data, and survey data being collected from tenants. We will consider our results in the context of other work done, both overseas and in Aotearoa regarding transport, urban form, and inequities.
